Wierd problem from Japan

Hi, I experienced a wierd problem viewing sites from Japan. Just curious if anyone else has ever experienced this.

Here are the facts that happened:
- server is up (hosted in Hostnoc data center)
- website is viewable from other parts of the world, UK, USA etc.
- However, the site was going up and down when I tried to access from different parts of Japan. (asked my friends to check)
- I was testing about 10 domains all hosted on the same server.
and during the day, some sites were viewable, other sites were not, and this kept going back and forth. -- very frustrating when my target market is Japan.
- ping, tracert would work and then stop working back and forth.

My hosting provider at the time tried to help me out A LOT, but there was just no solution to this problem. I finally gave up and changed hosting providers.

I moved all the sites to:
- ThePlanet
- shortly, the exact same thing happened --- EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING...
- during the day sites (viewing from Japan) were going up and down.
- I tried many things with my new hosting provider, but the same results.
- He then came up with one suggestion, although he was not sure if this would be the case.

His suggestion:
- it is possible that the Domain Registry (where I registered my domains is causing problems.)
- he was saying something about DNS resolution might be slow or something, but i forgot what he said.
- he recommended me to move my domain registration to Japan (but i wanted to avoid that since its expensive).
- at that time I was using
- CheapDomainRegistrations
- Tucows
- Onlinenic

I realized that the sites that were acting strangely were coming from CheapDomainReg and Tucows, so I transferred all my domains to Onlinenic to see what happens.

And the problem STOPPED!! And so far I haven't had problems since. So perhaps Hostnoc wasn't the problem.

My question:
- has anyone ever experienced this?
- was our solution correct? Could it have been something else?
- if our solution was correct, why? I don't quite understand how the domain registry has anything to do with this.
- if our solution was just pure luck, <-- which is what I am most concerned about... don't wanna go through it again!! ... if it was luck, then what could have been the actual problem?

Anyways, if anyone IS experiencing this, you can try our solution out... no guarantees...
