RH hardware change

I have never tried this but I am in a position now that I would like to update some hardware. We have a few brand new boxes and I have a older RH 7.3 box which I would like to just remove the current hd and move it to the new box. The hardware is pretty different so I am thinking the only thing I can do is install from scratch.

I have searched around for a few days and have not found anyone who has swaped the same hd for a different box.
