Transfering from Dathorn to EV1
Dathorn has been awsome in assisting us through our startup but we have outgrown their packages. It is also more economical for us to switch to ev1.My question is I currently have ns1.comcage.com & ns2.comcage.com pointing to the IP's that Dathorn provided me. I'll be obtaining two new ip's from EV1 and I will be wanting to point ns1 & ns2 to those ip's. I know how to do this procedure, that is the easy part. I just go to my registrar and tell them to point this there.
The hard part is not losing any of my clients data or having my clients to experience any down time. Right now, at dathorn I'm using WHM and cPanel. I'll be using the same combo with EV1.
So here is how I thought of doing it, let me know if this is the most common or best approach in my situation. I send an e-mail to all current clients telling them we are switching data facilities but they shouldn't experience much down time. I then backup all of their data and transfer it to the new host through importing/exporing in cPanel. Once I do that I then contact my registrar and have them repoint the dns servers to the new ip's that EV1 provided me. Then the transfer is complete.
Does this round about right? Basically I just want to keep the ns1 & ns2.comcage servers and I want them to point to EV1 ip's, which means all of my clients hosted on the old ip's need to be switched over. Thanks in advanced for your responses.
