Something strange is going on....
I recently moved all my accounts from a shared hosting package to my own Nocster dedicated server (via a reseller).I had a pig of a time with DNS when changing everything over, it seemed to take much longer than any previous server move. One day I'd see the old server, the next the new one, then later that day the old one, and so on for at least a week. Anyway, I know this can happen, but for me it was a bit out of the ordinadry. Maybe it has nothing to do with what the problem now is, but it's easier when you have all the info, no?
Anyhow, eventually everything changed over. Hunky Dory, or so I thought. At this stage I had removed the accounts from the old server.
I run a popular sports site on the server - which gets a large number of people visiting each day to the forums etc. I started getting regular forum members saying the site was unavailable, sometimes for 36-72 hours at a time. At no stage were there problems for me.
I have had a couple of traceroutes sent to me, but they didn't tell me much.
Then yesterday another person said on the forums they couldn't access the site, and that they were being redirected to another hosting company, which turned out to be http://www.namesdirect.com
The reports from forum members have both come from people with different ISPs.
I'm a little confused as to what might be happening, so if anyone has any advice or suggestions I'd really appreciate them.
Thanks.
