Stopping Spamming?
I run a fairly large message board for the community it's involved in, about 15,000 posts and 1500 users. We have a very busy userbase and are the second most popular forum for its type, a Call of Duty forum.
Recently my members and I have been attacked by a competing message board for Call of Duty that apparently strives to be the best. He's PM'd numerous people and has posted several times on my forums. I emailed him about it - the owner, who at the time I didn't know his name or anything - and he denies all of it.
Thing is, he's become quite bad at lying. The second name we banned had an email address consisting of @hislastname.com. I did a WhoIs on that domain and the domain he was spamming, same person. Additionally, a third name he made had his first name in the email address, which is not a normal name!
I know for a fact that he is the one spamming us, but he denies it. I cannot convince him otherwise.
My co-webmaster has deleted 590 PM's sent in the past week of this guy spamming his site. 590!
His IP changes all the time, so I can not just IP ban him....any suggestions as to how I can eliminate this immature spammer?
Note: Also via the WhoIs, I've discovered who his host is, and I've tried to contact them a few days ago but without luck. Also their 'Live Support' is never live, every time I've checked it...
