How to setup mail server in DNS?

I'm using Webmin, when I add new Virtual host. In the new zone, one mail server record have set up with name is "example.com" and mail server is set to "mail"

BTW, this doesn't work at all... I can send mail from the server, but can not receive. Plus, I cannot make any POP/SMTP client connect to the mail server.

Someone please help me, this is my first server and I'm totally newbie...
