yet another how do I transfer site question

Hi all,

I'm currently trying to transfer a site from my existing ensim pro shared hosting account to a new cPanel account.

I do not have SSH access on ensim system so I used the "backup" option in the control panel and downloaded the backup.

I have SSH access on the cPanel system so I transfered the tar file to a temp directory and did a "tar xvf filename.tar"

My problem is that the file permissions on the extracted files are not preserved....did I untar incorrectly or did the ensim backup not save the permissions or am I really showing my newbie colors here?

Yes I did a search...how do you think I got this far?
