I use Gallery software which requires that I upload a blank file called .htaccess and make sure it's writable. If I upload it and refresh in WS_FTP it's gone. I can chmod it before it disapears but the software doesn't pick it up. In order for it to work I have to upload a file called htaccess chmod it, excecute my installation, get the error, rename the file putting the dot in front, chmod it then run the install again. If I don't do this exact procedure, the installation will never find it. Why is this?
