Compiling my own kernel results in network lag
I've just compiled a new kernel, everything's working fine except for the fact that whenever the system is under any pressure at all, for example untaring a file, the network really lags: SSH is very spikey and generally the ping rises dramatically.
But, under RedHat's default kernel this doesn't happen at all. I've tried many different network cards / kernel versions but this one problem won't go away.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
