Breaker Breaker : Owner and Manager try to learn how to setup a server

Okay gents- be gentle. I'm, as many know, General Manager for CalHost Communications and I, along with the Owner Tim, have accepted a bet by our tech staff that we couldn't takle a clean dedicated server and configure it correctly running CPanel8/WHM because our tech guys said we didn't have what it takes (scraped fingers and coffee in my veins more like). =)

So heres the deal. We wanted to simulate a client, so I got myself this cheapo managed.com dedicated server and had CPanel8/WHM installed. It came online and I got lost at the first screen.

I got a certain distance into it and realized I should ask someone to tell me if I'm off.

I don't know what resolvers are but I found the resolv.conf. I'm guessing resolvers are a fancy name for DNS, so I entered 2 IP's for what I will become my custom nameservers.

My first question in this saga is:
I was allotted 10 IP's, but when we (Tim and I) try to create the SECOND nameserver within WHM, it gives us an error saying "Sorry, you have no more IPs left to assign" or similar error.

We should have 10 IP's. Where did they go? There is only one IP that works on this machine and that's the main IP, form what I gather. And what's a resolver? Where do I go to find out what it is?

If one of you experts could help us, Tim and I would GREATLY appreciate it and owe you a big favor.

Oh, and by the way- we went with a cheapo managed.com server because they won't support you. You're on your own so I knew we couldn't cheat and have someone else DO it for us. That was the office bet - Tim and I can't do it. Help me prove Del and the staff wrong? =)

If you help us, PM me your address and we'll send you a case of beer - you choose the label.
