IRC Bot & EggDrop Question???
Hello All,I had a request today to host an EggDrop for an IRC channel. What is good/bad about this? Should I allow such a thing?
Here is the email I received:
---start email---
does the jailed shell allow to run background processes ?
info about the eggdrop and irc stuff.
okay the eggdrop we're running connects to irc to our channel.
it keeps logfiles what happening in the channel and i can use that again to make stats of it with a perl script i'm using.
the eggdrop also keeps record of which person came and left the channel and when and peak amount of people on the channel.
it kicks out people from the channel who spam or do thing we don't allow on the channel
it uses tcl script for the different functions.
the shell where the bot is running now on uses the following,
OS: Linux 2.4.99-cb3rob
Tcl library: /usr/lib/tcl8.4
Tcl version: 8.4a3 (header version 8.4a3)
the bot is running now on the following hosting company
XXXXXXXXX
i got there the BudgetHost WebHosting Package
but the shell is unstable there,
and our webspace is to low.
that's the main reason we're looking for another hosting company

Any info would be helpful...
