Server management/incident recommendation: cheetaweb.com

This is my review for www.cheetaweb.com.

I'm sure that many of you all are familiar with gpan from the EV1 forums and his easy as pie RPM packages that he makes for updating your servers. I've used many of his RPM's over the last couple of years and have never had a problem at all.

A couple of days ago, I had a massive server failure that was a result of a corrupted init file that kept the box from rebooting and it would not get past "freeing up unused kernal memory" when booting up. Thus, no SSH access... nothing at all to fix it. My only option was to mount the old drive as a slave, put in a fresh drive as the master and start from scratch. This would have simply taken forever and considering how important it was to get everyone back online as soon as possible I wanted to outsource this work to someone I could depend on.

gpan and cheetaweb.com were the first ones to pop into my head.

I contacted him and he gave an *extremely* reasonable price for the work he was going to do. This particular box was an Ensim 3.1.x server. He was going to update the kernal to the latest, update perl, php, mysql, install firewall, and do numerous other updates to the box, including updating it to the latest Ensim Pro. For the amount of work that he was putting into it, I was amazed at the price he quoted.

I made the payment, got a confirmation call from their finance department and gave them all the needed information and he was off to work. He's a very no-nonsense type person. Doesn't talk a whole lot, but gets the work done. That's my type of guy. He understood the box was down and it needed to get taken care of asap.

He got everything back up and running and in no time at all considering how bad off the server was. So, this review is a hats off to gpan and his company. If anyone needs anything done to their servers at all, I very highly recommend www.cheetaweb.com without any reservations what-so-ever. I was so impressed, I'm having him do work on another server next week.
