[HELP] W2003 server not allocating available CPU power to demanding applications
I have a lot of applications running, including the IIS server, but the others are not really CPU hungry.Sometimes I'm running heavy tasks such as Winzip where it takes 1 hour to zip a few hundreds Mb's of log files because winzip doesn't use more then 3 or 4% of CPU although there are well 60 or 70% available. But sometimes it would zip them very quickly (at normal speed I would say).
The real problem comes with the web server when traffic is increasing in the evening. It doesn't want to use all the available CPU and sometimes pages start to queue. I add that there is far enough bandwidth, and I'm using Jet.OLEDB.4.0 as database provider, not dsn's (which I know can cause queueing).
Do you know if there are some settings to optimize CPU usage ?
P.S. Could the problem be also related to file reading ?
