What happens when GTE Root expires?

The GTE Cybertrust Root expires in 2006. What would happen to certificates issued by Comodo at that time? Doesn't it make 3-year certificates from Comodo worthless since it's already 2004?

It's time for me to purchase a batch of SSL certs and the Comodo reseller program ($200 upfront deposit) looks inviting, but I'm questioning what happens two years down the road. I don't want to end up wasting money.

P.S. For those recommending EV1 (Equifax), InstantSSL by Comodo is also $49 and is supported natively by Windows 98 (unlike EV1, which requires IE 5.01+), which is why I am not going with EV1 certs.

I think the best bet is to buy Comodo 1-2 yr certs until 2006 and then change to Geotrust certs, because by then Windows 98 will hopefully be completely banished from earth.

Any comments on this?
