Max users on my server advice
Currently I am intending to setup a free hotmail like email service on my dedicated server.
I intend to dedicate this server for this free email service, assuming bandwidth is not a prob, can you kindly advise me what is the maximum no. of users my server can support with hivemail? (hivemail.com)
My server specs:
P4 2.8Ghz with HT
1 GIG DDR RAM
80GB Harddisk IDE
I intend to utilise up to 60 Gb of the 80gb space for this. Thus with each user having 10mb of free space, I was hoping that the server can 'tolerate' 6000 users.
I am assuming that 60-80% of the registered users will check their emails everyday.
Just wondering if these two assumptions of having 6000 users and 60-80% of daily active users are valid? If not are there anyone else who provide free email services can provide me some advice?
If my server is unable to support 6000 users, may I know what is the realistic figure given that the server will be dedicated to provide the free email service?
