DNS issues - Need a DNS / WHM guru
I really can't get my head round this problem.
named appears to be running OK
I have 5 named processes running ...
named 6132 1 0 03:36 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/named -u named -t /var/named/chroot
WHM and my domain registrar all agree on the name server IP's
WHM will let me create & update DNS Zones, but a name lookup fails.
WHM however creates it's zone files in /var/named which don't get read by the named process.
I can however create working DNS zones via Webmin as this defaults to /var/named/chroot and this does actually return the correct lookups. Direct changes to the (chroot) zone files also work OK
Question:-
How can I make changes to WHM and / or named so that I can manage the DNS via WHM ? I know I can simply tweak config files here and there, but am concerned I'll break something.
I also get a rndc error when doing a "service named restart", I've tried the /scripts/fixndc, but I guess this is also referring to the /var/named config files.
The OS is Fedora
