Good ProFTPd HOWTO

I've searched around the new and I haven't been able to find a decent ProFTPd HOWTO. The user's manual on their website is far to long and involved and doesn't even really go through the process of installing and setting up the software - just configuration directives. Has anyone come across a good ProFTPd HOWTO?

I'm also looking for a good Qmail/POP3/IMAP HOWTO. I've looked at Qmailrocks and "Life with Qmail" but they make it too involved... does it need to be?
