SSL / subdomains / IPs
Hopefully someone here is willing to answer a few newbie-type questions. Although I've been fiddling around with websites for a number of years I haven't until now had the need to deal with SSL.I've been tasked to setup a website for an organization I'm part of, and it would appear that SSL would be needed for at least one subdomain, preferably two.
Do I need to have my own static IP (or IPs) for this?
I'm accustomed to regular old websites where you can host tons of websites on a single IP, and I thought that the same would apply to SSL, however I have also heard suggestions that this is not the case.
Additionally, do any of the more popular control panels (CPanel, Plesk) allow you to setup SSL on a subdomain, rather than the domain?
...or would I need to go for some sort of virtual server setup in order to get this configured (unless I can convince the web server to work around any control panel limits).
