messages sitting in qmail queue

Anyone have any idea why outgoing (smtp) messages would sit in the queue for like 20 minutes before getting sent?

messages in queue: 4
messages in queue but not yet preprocessed: 4

Why would these messages just sit there without getting sent for so long? There is no excess server load and my smtp_auth file is using the -R option to disable reverse lookups.

Any help is much appreciated.
