What to do, Languages?
Hi all, ok well I will get straight to the point, I want to get more into Linux but I have a tendency to stick with one little thing until I know it inside out, so I am going to ask, is there a problem with learning what you need to know (If that makes sense) and when you need to do something else or fix something learn how to then, instead o trying to learn generally everythingNext, I want to learn a Language for Linux, this language doesnt necessarily have to be easy but to give you an overview of what I want to do and be:
I want to be an administrator, for 2 years this has been on my mind, generally in networking/servers with Linux. Is there a language you think I should learn being I want to be an admin, like be able to write my self scripts to make my life easier, such things as this?
Example of something I wanted to do in my home network to make it better for backing up and in general just as a project, so suggest a language suitable for this sort of thing:
I want to create a script that will allow for hosts on my network to login, or detect there IP address and allow them access to there user areas, in there user areas they can upload stuff, change permissions to what other users can see and do in there user areas etc in general, able to delete there own stuff, I am able to limit the amount of space they have etc. And all this through a GUI such as HTML over the network, in terms of the quotas etc, this can be done through CLI, but for my family I want a good interface and an easy to use system, what language?
I have added a poll, feel free to answer
