Pointing another domain to my web server?
Hi, I have a dedicated root server from 1&1.Basically, I've just been running the one domain on there for the last few months. The directory structure is listed under /VHOSTS/ etc. and the domain DNS points to my server's IP.
Now ... I want to host another domain on my server. How can I do this? How can I get the server to differentiate between the two domains and point the user to the correct location?
I tested the IP of the server and it points to a "default" directory, again inside /VHOSTS/.
I therefore assumed that the "VirtualHost" settings inside my httpd.conf were being used - but they are NOT! So ... how does my server know to point the current domain to the right location? And domain-less connections to the "default" directory?
I hope you understand my confusion. Please help a novice!
