Backups - WHM, Rsync. How?
I'm with The Planet and just received after two weeks my 40GB NAS Backup space.
I'm completely new to this and really need some help. I've been reading posts here and on the cpanel forum on backups.
What I though of doing is backup daily via rsync using the NAS Backup space and signup for a remote ftp backup solution with another provider and do WHM backup weekly.
The problem is after reading all those posts is that I have no idea how to!!
1) In the NAS welcome email from The Planet I am told I should type a command like
smbmount //smbackup01.dllstx4.servermatrix.com/username mountpoint -o username=username
what is the "mountpoint" in this command
does this mean that after I do this once (and never again) I will have a new drive on my server? what will be the drive name
2) How do I rsync under this circumstances? do I setup a cron job? what is the command
3) What do you think of the remote ftp solution, it is straightforward to do?
