unroutable mail domain
Two servers both running WHM/Cpanel and RH3.
Server 1 - has domain 'xyz123.com' on it for hosting of their site.
Server 2 - has domain 'mail.xyz123.com' on it for handling their mail
All is well for receiving mail from other domains mounted on either server that is sent via webmail or from a client e-mail program via smtp.
Today, we added some forms to the site (on Server 1) using formmail.pl (the original version, not the cpanel clone). The forms process correctly ...that is, you get a confirmation screen when you post. The e-mail generated by this form is directed to an account at the 'xyz123.com' domain, which uses Server 2 to handle mail functions.
Even though the form processes properly, we don't get the output showing up at the recipient address. HOWEVER, if we change the recipient address to go to another domain (other than 'xyz123.com'), or to another mail account located on other servers, it shows up. Only form generated mail sent to accounts at 'xyz123.com' don't make it through.
Additional info: Neither of these servers is handling DNS functions...those are handled by nameservers on another network.
I can login to either server and ping the domain on the other one and it resolves correctly.
