How much is this mail hurting my server?

Well, here's my question.

I have a servermatrix 2.4ghz celeron that just hosts a few personal websites, it runs great, no problems load is always low.

I don't get much "genuine" email, mabye 6/7 emails a day, but one of my domains does get alot of spam, sometimes up to 50-75 emails an hour How much is this mail hurting my server?

This is all spam going to non-existent addresses at the domain so it all gets blackholed, but i thought about it and it *has* to be a negative effect on the server to some extent right?, as it's non-stop every minute, every day this barrage of junk mail just hitting my server ;\ so would there be any big benefit to removing the MX records and hosting my mail somewhere else, or is it not worth it?

It just seems to me that spam is probally making my server work twice as hard as it needs to, for the sake of 6/7 genuine emails a day.

Thoughts? How much is this mail hurting my server?
