Need advice on DNS transfer

First, please forgive me if this post if it seems redundant. I have searched the boards at
length and found some of the information I need, but I need further info in this situation.

I currently have two servers. Server1 is a Win2k3/HELM box that I have been using for the past 6 months or so. Server2 is a RHE3/Cpanel/WHM box that was provisioned just this morning. I want to move all my domains/data to Server2 so I can get rid of Server1.

I am not canceling Server1 until August, so I have plenty of time to do the transfer.

My question regards DNS. I admin most of the domains that I host, but the handful that I do not complicate things. I want to make a completely transparent move if possible.

Currently, all the domains are using ns1.server1.com and ns2.server1.com as their nameservers (I know, I should have redundancy but I don't know anyone that will do it, so I live with the risk). I would like to use the same nameservers on Server2, but when I tried to create them through WHM, it errors and tells me that they already exist (at Server1's IPs).

So my questions boil down to this:

a) In this situation, is it possible to create ns1.server1.com and ns2.server1.com on Server2 while they already exist and are active on Server1?

b) Is the current DNS system smart enough to automatically re-allocate the name server's IP addresses when they change or will I have to go through on each domain and update the nameservers?

c) What procedures would you guys recommend to make this process go smoothly, given that I have a month to complete all the changes?

I really appreciate any help/tips you guys can give me on this.

Thanks,

B
