QMail + H-Sphere Help Error 553

I've got QMail and H-Sphere configured on my RedHat Enterprise ES 3 box. The setup is presently one-server model, running the cp, mail, web, dns, etc. Everything is working fine, EXCEPT when I try to send mail. Unless I have specifically added the sender's IP to the list of IPs allowed to relay mail, I get the follow email back immediately:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test
Sent: 07/18/2004 9:34 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'(email_address_i_sent_to)' on 07/18/2004 9:34 PM
553 sorry, that domain isn't allowed to be relayed thru this MTA (#5.7.1)
I've tried setting outlook to do SMTP authentication before sending mail (with same POP3 login), as well as having it log in to POP before it sends mail. Checked rcpthosts and that lists the domains, but unless I add the IP of the sender of the email in to HSphere, it doesn't look like QMail/STMP cares if its got an SMTP login.

I've searched around and any posts with the same error don't have the answers posted. It'd be nice if someone who's done this in the past would come across and catch this so I (and any else who runs in to this problem) have some more ideas on fixing it.
