mail issues with rapid DNS transfers
I have an issue I am playing around with.
I lower TTL to say 900 I can switch sites over very fast to another machine, and mail delivery follows delivery to the correct machine. so all is good!
(cPanel-if it makes a difference)
Now the prolem lies in my outlook or other email client.
I have the mail servers set as mail.domain.com and what happens is it will check the inbox on the old server, the one hosting the zones for the site. In order to get mail I have to change the incoming/outgoing servers to the IP address of the new server.
I guess I am wondering what is wrong why mail.domain.com would not follow suit as htp and ftp requests go to the new server, but local mail checking goes to the old server, remembering that mail is actually being delivered to the desired, new machine.
Any thoughts on this one?
