CPU requirements for Message Board User Numbers
I've answered almost all my questions with searches of the archives but I've got one left which the knowledge of this site could answer...Basically I'd like to know peoples ideas on what CPU power is needed to host what number of simulataneous message board users (assuming a board such as vBulletin 2).
For example, this site currently has 800 active users - what hardware is keeping them served this smoothly? What rules of thumb do resellers and managers use when building message board boxes?
Ideally I'd like the capacity to house 2000 active users at any one time - how much Opteron would be needed to make that realistic?
