Help me with my off-site backup plan! help ASAP!
i just purchased a dedicated server. i am waay to cheap to purchase offsite backup
, so i decided to get a 160gb hd(it was like $115w/ shipping). its coming tommorowmy server has an 80-gb hd. will i need to backup the entire hd everyday?
here is what i want to do. Partition the HD so it has 40gb linux install, 40gb for my files(windows based), and 80gb backup(but if i dont need this much, please tell me now!).
this is my home network:
cable modem--> linksys wired router--> linksys 802.11b
3 computers 3 computers
the backup would be on one of the wired computers. now would i need to a. install an os. on that partition, and if so, which(windows xp or red hat enterprise.)? or could i just run the client on the partition through windows or linux?
is it possable to run a home ftp-server with a linksys router? i want to set it so it will backup automatically.
is this at all feasable?
