Adding Drives or Replacing with Larger Drives, Possible?

When running a Raid 5 setup, can you:

1) Add drives to the array at a later time, without breaking the existing array?

2) How do you go about upgrading capacity down the road? Say you want to replace all drives with newer higher capacity ones? Must you build a completely separate array?
