Install a fresh copy of Linux, need your experience
PHP server hardware 1U Intel P4+2giga RAM+2 SATA HD 80 gigs+ 3ware 8006 raid card
I have 2 servers (2 X 1U with the same configuration) that will run in RAID 0 because I will use hardware load balancing.
I have one DB running on windows 2000 server + MSSQL 2000 (dual XEON)+ 2GIGA RAM +2 36GIGA SCSI HD+ hardware SCSI RAID 1
Linux conf: I was thinking to go with Centos3 (equal to RHAS 3) I will need to install
1) PHP with GD2 support
2) FREETDS to support MSSQL over Linux
3) Apache
4) FTP
a) When I install the Linux distribution what component should I install? What X desktop should I need or any?
Is the Centos is good and stable for me?
b) The Linux auto detecting the 3ware card. Should I use the auto detecting driver? Is it safe?
c) Load balancing because I will load balance (LB with network hardware) the PHP servers, I will need to synchronize the data in some folders
If I will run some application that writs to the PHP file system the change will be made only on one server
And I need to copy the information to the second server (some type of mirror ..)(Can I use rsync?)
