VPS Question (Newbie of course)
So far the help on here has been outstanding and I have a few more questions to go:
We have decided to go with a VPS to meet our hosting needs and specific setup.
Our Setup would be as follows:
1. Linux
2. Apache (for processing PHP.. for VBulletin)
3. Tomcat 5 (for Java 1.4 and Servlets and JNDI connections)
4. MySQL
5. SSL Cert (owned by us)
6. Java Advanced Imaging API
What we are unsure of is the following:
1. Do we also need a DNS server to have our domain name pointed properly?
2. Do we need an E-mail server (or can it be setup on the same VPS)
3. Can Servlets be configured to run on a VPS?
4. Can JNDI connections be configured to run on a VPS?
Any and all help would be very much appreciated as our current host (I won't say who) seems to be having a lot of problems setting us up.
Also, if you have any other comments, like what to watch out for or make sure you get this blah blah, then we welcome those too
One last thing, the current hosting company we are looking at is JVPS.com (although we haven't contacted them yet... we hear Rus is a great guy
