WHM Backup question?

Ive recently ordered a dedicated server with Tomsyer, so far so good. The backup facility in WHM was set to /backups and I have a backup drive installed, but backing up accounts wasnt working till I submitted a ticket and was told it should be /backup.

I have enabled backup in WHM and do plan to use FTP remote backup also when the server goes into production, however, for the time being, the three test accounts that are setup on the server dont seem to be being backed up daily.

Is whm supposed to backup automatically at nightime, even if you do not provide any remote FTP settings? Any advice on this would be appreciated, before I submit a ticket to say there is a problem with the backup in WHM.
