Fedora and FTP

Not having a lot of experience sysadminning a Linux machine, i have set up a box in my house to use as a general use server. Previously, i was running Red Hat 9.0, and didn't have any problems with it, until the hard drive went bad. This time around, i installed Fedora on it, and got Samba set up the way i liked, and moved on to setting up vsftpd. Everything works fine from within the LAN, but when trying to connect from outside, it acts strange.

It connects fine, and authenticates fine. But when trying to get a directory listing, it times out. The settings on the router have not changed.. Any ideas?
