ugly urls (mediawiki) + phpsuexec

I have a client who's been using MediaWiki on our serves for awhile now. However with our change to php suexec the URL format has changed and now uses URLs like this:

PHP server API is cgi; using ugly URLs (index.php?title=Page_Title)

Anyone know of a workaround for this to allow search engine friendly URLs?

The really big issue is that since the clients URLs changed - the search engine results are useless now as they go off the old URLs.
