Installing MySQL - A newbie needs help!
I have been playing around with php for some while now, and looking at all of the scripts on hotscripts.com, I notice a significant amount need a MySQL database to function.
As my hosting is from a friend and is not paid for, it is very basic. I would like to install MySQL on this server, but have no idea where to start, even after reading countless tutorials!
According to him, the server is Windows 2003. I downloaded the 'win' MySQL package from their site, and unzipped it.
Now this is where you all tell me I did wrong! I installed it to my C: drive and everything was placed in the folder of 'mysql'. I then proceded to upload this folder directly to my webspace - and that's where I got stuck.
If somebody could point me in the right direction I'd be most grateful!
