Console and AUX ports

Good day, I am researching the difference between console and AUX ports for cisco in order to get a better understanding, I don't need to do this, just it helps me understand, so here is my question/information:

I understand that a console port is needed for the initial setup for a router before it can be connected onto a network, and before an AUX port can be used, if it exists on the router.

However I do not know why? Why can we use the console port and not the AUX for initial setup.

I read you need to use a terminal/virtual terminal to connect to the console port, this leads me onto the difference between Console and Terminal as Linux in specific seems to mention these all the time, I "think" it is something like a console is the connecting - so the device, port etc and the terminal is the "visual" side for viewing?

Kind Regards

DislexiK
