Private Label (?) Name Servers

Hi,

I've been searching for an answer to this but I haven't located one yet. So I'm hoping someone here can help.

I know that on a shared server, a number of domains can have the same IP Address. Not that I know exactly how that's accomplished, Private Label (?) Name Servers just that I know it can, and is, done. I think it's called Virtual Shared hosting?

Now, can the same be done with Domain Name Servers without using Dedicated IP Address? To expand on this: Let's say I have a domain name foo.com and one called foo.net and I would like to set up foo.net as NameServers for foo.com - (i.e. ns1.foo.net and ns2.foo.net)

I've seen Hosting Providers say they can set up what I think they call Private Label Name Servers (or something like that) and I would suspect they wouldn't set up another dedicated server just for me in order to provide that. So, how is that done?

If someone can explain, in some detail if it's not too complicated, how that's done I would really appreciate it.

I'm a noobie on the server side of things, so I hope you can tolerate and have patience with this if it falls into the category of a dumb question. Private Label (?) Name Servers

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
