Redhat Enterprise Linux 3.0 Installation problems
I'm trying to install the linux offical enterprise CDs on my compaq laptop.
I tried to install it with VMWARE 4.0 as i always like to play with virtual machines and have multiple systems running all together.
CD1 installs without any problems.
The installer asks for CD2 and got this error message
"The package hwdata-0.98-1 cannot be opened. This is due to a
missing file or perhaps a corrupt package. If you are installing
from CD media this usually means the CD media is corrupt, or the CD
drive is unable to read the media."
The CD works great and pass the disk check , i even can load this rpm and open it without any problems.
even created an ISO image from the CD and made my VMware software looks for it instead of the physical CDROM.
Same result with this error.
The installer refuse to do anything , can't skip , can't continue ....etc
all what i can is to restart the VM and abort the installtion.
I'm open for any ideas or suggestions.
