I have a P4 2.4 with 1Gb of ram that appears to have load problems as new mail comes in. The server is getting around 1000 emails per hour and unfortunatly most of them are spam. I have spam assasin running but it seems to make the loads hover around 1.5-3 with spikes higher at times. There is some apache/mysql processing on the server but it is VERY low.
I am wondering if this number of emails would normally use most of the processing power on a server. The ram usage is pretty low, around 700 mb free in the buffer, and it appears to only be lacking raw power. TIA for any input
