bind/named NS records timeout

Is there a good way to comprehensively diagnose DNS? Or should I better invest in a centralized DNS product so that all of my servers' domain resolutions will be reliable?

I get this error:

"A timeout occurred getting the NS records from your nameservers"

when checking NS records on dnsreport.com...

but the domain continues to resolve. In fact all the domains resolved by ns1.vivhost.net ns2.vivhost.net are fine. But I am seeing many other oddities. I would be willing to pay for someone's time in helping me fix the DNS. I just had this server restored due to a crash and many people had to rebuild their sites. Now this DNS problem came up and I want to prevent further outages. Help!!! thx
