Auto Backup Mysql

I want to make a cronjob that copy's my /var/lib/mysql directory in a TAR.GZ file to a specific directory.

In wich language do I have to do this ?

Making a cronjob is no problem.
Howto make the batch file for backing up ?
Is there somewhere an example of this ?
