It really sucks (excuse me): I am operating various free sites. These free sites really cost a lot of money to operate and they live from email advertisements. All users did agree to receive email advertisements and have confirmed their email addresses. Each email comes with careful instructions on how to remove yourself and I'm sending them in my real name etc. saying that they got this email because they signed up for my free service. Now with 20.000 confirmed email addresses it always happens that someone doesn`t remember having signed up with you or for example a family member doesn`t know that their kid signed up with you etc. so they insult you and even worse: Report you to spam lists. As a result of this I can not communicate with my customers because my main address is on the spam list of various ISPs. The funny thing is: They do not add the sender address to the list but the domain name that is promoted. That means I can add anyone of you to that list by just sending an email to 20.000 people saying "Have a look at yoursite.com". Excuse me but that is CRAP. When will ISPs start to validate spam reports before they add innocent people to their lists. You can get removed but that requires that you beg for it to some ******** (sorry but that is what they are) working for these ISPs (they are unfriendly as hell if you ask to be removed from a spam list). Ok, spam sucks but if someone wants something for free, accepts the terms and then reports you to spam lists that really makes me wanna beat that person.
Now what I actually wanted to ask: Do you have similar experiences promoting your business via email (legitimate non spam emails) ?
