Hardware specifications for spamfilter server?
Can anyone give me advice on what hardware I need to run a spamfilter service?
Our old server is starting to fail due to hard drive problems (thank God for RAID), and we are planning a replacement.
Currently, we filter about 1-2 emails per second through the server. The average scan time is about 6-7 seconds through SpamAssassin and ClamAV. This pushes our load to about 1.5
We currently run this on a HP Proliant DL320 with 2.2 GHz cpu, 1GB RAM, and 80GB IDE disks on software RAID.
We prefer Redhat Enterprise Linux on our next server, and are looking for 2-3 times the performance of our current server.
Can anyone give advice on what hardware we should choose, or what parts of the system we should focus on to get the best performance?
