Illegaly renting VoIP servers, causing the recent change's in products such as Ventrilo & teamspeak's User aggreements & licensing.
While I commend anyone starting a business I & I'm sure a few more GSP's are getting annoyed at the inexperienced tactics, prices, lack of knowledge in the gaming & hosting fields & the legality of these business's.
They do not (in most cases) register their buisness with local goverment (LLC, LTD etc etc).
Now while gamers as a whole are an inteligent bunch a smallier percentage rent from these companies only to find out to late how terrible the service is, after forking out the cash.
I know you have all heard the stories from new signups.
I was thinking if a few of the legit GSP's of good standing & who have been around for a while, were to get together & create a standard Quality mark that could be displayed on the all our home pages to show gemers that we are members of a quality control service.
This is done in several other fields, why not the GSP area.
Preferably a third party gaming organization could be used to maintain the standards.
Perhaps a gaming site the reviews games or one of the third party game browsers, ASE pops to mind.
e.g. of standards
1. Secure Fee Transactions
2. Support Features, (e.g. Trouble Ticket System)
3. Registered as a buisness in the GSP's country
4. Remote Game Server Control Features.
5. Good Refund Policy
6. Hosting Services
7. Legitamit Licencing for third Party applications.
8. A good TOS
Those are just some off the top of my head.
Now all of the above is just a suggestion by me, but Im sure you all get the gist.
The plan is for a gamer to visit your or my site & see the Quality Logo & recognise it straight off as a good provider.
