error in a http log....

hello all, just wondered if anyone knew what this error messege means and how i can stop it...

(13)Permission denied: cannot read directory for multi: /home/mossup/domains/mossup.co.uk/public_html/irc/

theres a few of them, basical that page is just a java chat popup, and it works fine, but it just leaves this in the log.

i just dont understand what the multi bit means
