I'm new to managing my own VPS/SEVER and finding tutorials for noobs isn't as easy as it should be. so below are two links that helped me install APF Firewall and DDOS Deflate.
I found this first tutorial better than the next link for installing APF.

It's straight forward and easy once you start applying the steps so don't get put off by how hard it looks at first.
