Creating a Socks 5 Proxy
To give you the background. I have already got a squid proxy server running for our corporate network, and we only allow traffic from our proxy server to go through our firewall to the public net.
We went live with this yesterday, thus causing the initial grief of people who didn't enable the proxy on their machines. Now it almost all seems fine.
Except ftp and certain chat programs (they say they need them for work purposes, yeah right
), so I have done a bit of research and have come up with the idea of setting up a socks 5 proxy server on the same box.I have browsed around for information, etc in regards to this, and haven't found to much. Can squid do socks 5 as well ? Or do I have to get another server application? Also will I be able to still get detailed reports on the traffic that is conducted via the socks 5 proxy?
