Nameservers on second server??

I am in the process of setting up a second server, off site from the datacenter I am in, to host my main web hosting site so it will be accessible if issues arise with the main server(s) or datacenter.
I currently have my main site setup as a reseller on the main server with nameservers (ns1.mydomain.com, etc) and there are of course sites on that server using those nameservers. The servers main nameservers are different, I ended with multiple nameservers being used from combining two accounts/servers onto one.
Questions is...if I move my main site off the server and onto another one, how can I still keep the nameservers working on the original server? I will not use them on the new server.
If I just leave the account setup on the original server as is, will they still work even though the site will resolve to another server (site will, but nameserver IPs will still point to this server)

I hope I was clear on this...

Any help/suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I am using cPanel/WHM, and I am not using any DNS clustering currently.
