Some assistance or help getting started

I am under development of an ASP (application service provider) at the moment and hope to roll it out in april.

Due to funding this all myself, i am developing a plan to scale my hardware as my client base grows. My first step will be sticking with a dedicated host.

once i hit around 30 clients i plan to purhcase a firewall, a server and a ssl accelerator (since the whole site is over SSL) card and moving to Colocation

My main concern is administrating Windows 2003 so it is locked down and secure. The only real access i am going to have is incoming HTTP requests (transfered to HTTPS), and HTTPS. so i can lock down incoming port traffic a good bit. i will not be adding in mail access becuase it is just another thing to worry about.

how hard will this be to get setup? can anyone recommend any books to get started on this?

also later on i am planning on scaling up a good bit, my other main concern is, how to i protect my internal network communication so when i add in a DB server(s) communication between the DB server and application server cannot be intercepted? will this be ok over a network hidden behind the firewall?

thanks guys Some assistance or help getting started
